The mechanism of action of anticholinesterase compounds on the patellar reflex.

چکیده
In a previous report (McNamara et at., 1954) it was noted that spinal reflexes could be abolished reversibly by anticholinesterase compounds. When the ammals were sacrificed after return of the reflex activity, some were found to have considerable cholinesterase in their spinal cords and in other areas of the body; in other animals the enzyme was apparently absent. No determinations of acetylcholine levels were made in the above study. The present investigation is an attempt to correlate a central effect of anticholinesterase compounds with acetylcholine and cholinesterase activities in the central nervous system.

Patellar taping is one of the method of treatment of patellofemoral pain but effect of patellar taping on VMO and VL reflex as a one of mechanism of pain relieve is questionable. The purpose of this study were to investigate the effect of patellar taping on the timing of the onset of VMO and VL reflex in patients with patellofemoral pain and to compare the obtained of VMO and VL refle...

Background: The Jendrassik maneuver (JM) is a remote facilitation muscular contraction shown to affect amplitude and temporal components of the human stretch reflex. Conflicting theoretical models exist regarding the neurological mechanism related to its ability to reinforce reflex parameters. One mechanism involves the gamma motoneurons of the fusimotor system, which are subject to both physic...

Malaria is an acute and chronic disease caused by obligate intracellular protozoan parasites of the genus plasmodium, transmitted through the bite of female anopheles mosquitoes. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) report, currently malaria transmits in 104 countries and due to a failure in the fight against this disease, their control and elimination is difficult. The parasite res...
